University Of Cape Town
We provide HVAC services to over 50 buildings within UCT, encompassing laboratories, lecture halls, and office spaces. Our scope of work includes DX split systems, VRF systems, chilled water systems, fresh air and extraction ventilation systems, as well as refrigeration and cold room installations.
Old Mutual Head Office
Pre-covid, this 170 000 square meter office block would be teeming with up to 10 000 employees on a daily basis, and is serviced by a team dedicated staff. The building consists of a Trane 10 000kW District Cooling chiller plant and SFI has been responsible for carrying out various upgrades over the years, including energy optimisation and modernisation such as intelligent diffusers.
Tyger Valley Shopping Centre
With close to 100 000 m² of retail space and over 240 stores, air-conditioning plays an important role in the customer experience in this Northern Suburbs shopping Centre. As a result, SFI has a full-time team on site to meet these needs. With multiple chiller plants including an ice plant this system needs to be carefully managed by an on-site manager to ensure optimal performance while balancing the needs for energy savings. All equipment is controlled by a Siemens BMS and the plant operates to match the trading hour requirements of the centre.
