As technology advances, the need to upgrade essential infrastructure becomes imperative. At SFI, we specialise in facilitating seamless upgrades to critical infrastructure, maximising efficiency and occupant comfort. This blog post showcases a recent collaboration with Lombard Consulting engineers, detailing the successful modernisation of a client’s chiller system.
The Challenge
The previous generation Trane chiller had reached the end of its lifecycle, necessitating frequent repairs to maintain operational status. This challenge required a robust solution to ensure continued efficiency and reliability for our client’s cooling needs.
Solution
With the expertise of David Lombard from Lombard Consulting Engineers, a state-of-the-art system was designed, incorporating the latest Trane Chiller technology. SFI successfully tendered for and was awarded the installation project, showcasing our ability to handle complex engineering tasks.
Technical Highlights
– Challenging Environment: The installation was performed in a live and fully tenanted environment, requiring meticulous planning and execution. The majority of the work was conducted after hours to minimise disruption.
– Advanced WILO Pumps: The new IE1 efficiency pumps are equipped with variable speed drives, ensuring optimal energy efficiency and precise water flow throughout the building.
– High-Efficiency Chiller: The newly installed 700KW Trane chiller boasts a SEER of 5.97 and a Gross EER of 3.54, reflecting its superior energy performance.
– Uninterrupted Cooling: The chiller plant is designed to run on generator power, providing uninterrupted cooling even during power outages.
Key Takeaways
This project exemplifies SFI’s expertise in complex large-scale system installations. By implementing the latest Trane chiller technology, we have equipped our client with a highly efficient chilled water system. This translates to reduced operational costs, minimised environmental impact, and unwavering occupant comfort, even during power disruptions.
